    Lily Chin, named a “Master Knitter” by Vogue Knitting International, has designed knitwear for magazines and yarn companies for nearly 25 years, and she has worked with designers Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, and Isaac Mizrahi. Her work has been on the backs of celebrities and super models, from Racquel Welch and Vanna White to Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. She is the author of Knit and Crochet with Beads, The Urban Knitter, and Mosaic Magic, and she has written the “On Designing” column for Knitter’s Magazine and the annual “Focus on Fibers” report for Knit ‘n Style.

    Lily also is the reigning champion fastest crocheter in the world, a title she defended in October 2004 at the world championships in London. Lily Chin regularly appears as a spokesperson for the yarn industry in media across the U.S., including Time, the New York Times, USA Today, the David Letterman Show, the CBS Early Show, DIY’s Knitty Gritty, E! Style Network’s Craft Corner Death Match, Lifetime’s Handmade by Design, HGTV’s Sew Much More, and CNN.

    Lily Chin has lived in New York City nearly all her life and has been involved in some aspect of the fashion industry since age 13. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, and was educated at Queens College, City University of New York

    In addition to open classes on Friday and Saturday, Lily will be our keynote speaker on Saturday morning as well as conduct an all-day class on Thursday.

    Susan Lazear is a Professor of Fashion at Mesa College in San Diego where she teaches various fashion and design courses. She has been involved with machine knitting for over 20 years, and she still thrives on the creativity and options machines provide to knitters.

    As a staff columnist of Design Line (Machine Knitters Source), she has shared Susan designs wearable art, unusual fine art crafts and is a computer graphic artist.

    In addition to her teaching, she combines her skills in the creation of a line of software for sewers and textile artists under the Cochenille Design Studio name. She has taught fashion, computer and design workshops around the world.
    .

    Her experience in fashion design as well as her knowledge of software and machine knitting is sure to provide inspiration!

    In addition to conducting classes throughout the Conference, Susan will conduct an all-day workshop on Garment Designer on Sunday.

    MAO is a creative, self-taught machine knitter, well-known for her classic, wearable designs and her knack for adding common sense and humour to machine knitting. She is adept in textures and great finishing techniques which can be used by all knitters, any gauge, all machines. Mary Anne's original designs have been published in 'Canada's Fashion Machine', 'The Carriage Trade', 'Machine Knit America', 'Machine Knitters Source' and 'KNITWORDS'. With almost 200 seminar and workshop credits all over North America in the past 12 years, her popularity and teaching skills are undisputed.

    Mary Anne's suitcase will be overflowing with new designs and garments that will INSPIRE you and prompt you to ask "How does she do it?"

    Recently retired, Carol has been a Professor of Fashion Design for over twenty-five years, teaching apparel design, patternmaking, tailoring, clothing construction and machine knitting. Drawing from her experience in the fashion industry as a designer and merchandiser, she strives to spark the creative spirit in students while at the same time developing their technical expertise.

    Carol will be leading our beginner and refresher track of classes.
